Applications are now open for the Massey University Academy of Sport First Year Scholarship for 2027.
This is for representative athletes who will be new to Massey in 2027, or are only starting their Massey study in semester two 2026. Applications close on 1st September 2026.
What’s on Offer:
- Up to $9,500 value including
- Financial Scholarship of up to $7,500 (pro-rated for part-time students)
- Support through the Academy of Sport Scholars programme up to the value of $2,000
Eligibility:
- Athletes who are new to Massey in 2027 (first year students, or transferring from another tertiary provider), or started studying in semester two 2026
- Studying an undergraduate degree programme
- Studying a minimum of 45 credits in the 2027 academic year
- Study on campus or online through distance learning
- Must be NZ Citizen or permanent resident
- Achieving at least at a regional representative level (or equivalent) in chosen sport/s
FAQ’s:
- Late applications are not accepted. If athletes are still waiting on supporting documents, or have upcoming sporting achievements they need to still apply online by the deadline and can email remaining documents / sporting updates to hpc@massey.ac.nz
- Athletes studying in semester two 2026 who haven’t completed any Massey study previously are eligible to apply, as are those beginning their study in 2027
- Athletes who have completed Massey study previously at any point are not eligible, but can apply for the Massey University Academy of Sport Returners Scholarship (applications open 1st October 2026 and close 10th January 2027)
- Athletes will need to have applied for admission to Massey before they can apply, but don’t need to have completed their course enrolment. They just need a Massey student ID to be able to log in to the student portal and apply for the Scholarship online. Apply in the “Scholarships” tab of the student portal.
