WHAT IS GIRLS GOT GAME?
Girls Got Game is a fun and friendly basketball programme for primary and intermediate school age girls.
Basketball is a fantastic sport for girls, helping to develop movement and thinking skills in a fun social team environment.
Basketball Manawatu are proud to be supporting this new and exciting initiative for girls to have a go at our great game of basketball.
WHAT DOES THE PROGRAMME PROVIDE?
- A FUN and FRIENDLY experience
- A SUPPORTIVE and NON-COMPETITIVE environment
Girls Got Game is based on Basketball New Zealand’s Kiwi Hoops programme but is modified to meet the needs and preferences of girls. It is a flexible programme and can be modified to suit the needs and resources of participants, schools and providers.
Girls Got Game aims to introduce more young girls to basketball and encourage them to continue being active and enjoy basketball with their friends.

Girls Got Game Festivals
In 2023 we are running the Primary Schools Girls Got Game festival; a one-day tournament for girls. It will be a fantastic event that hopefully will be supported by the schools in and around Palmerston North.
In 2024 we will look at the feasibility of our running this event again, potentially looking at an Intermediate Schools Girls Got Game festival.
These festival days will be a celebration of girls playing our sport.
See Me – Be Me
