Effectively our basketball programme here in Manawatū is spread across three separate times within the 12 month calendar year.
At the beginning of the year we offer a six week “Summer League” competition.
This league is offered in Term One of the school year, so from 1st week in February through to the middle week in April.
Because basketball is essentially a winter code, we offer our large 14 week “Winter League” competition.
This is offered from 1st week in Term 2 (1st week in May) through to the last week in Term 3 (1st week in October)..
Our ending coincides with the large National Secondary Schools tournament that is held in Palmerston North
Traditional over the winter months we play our Intermediate teams from 3-30 until 6-00pm on a Wednesday followed by our Adults Premier and Social Leagues from 6-30 until 10-30pm.
Then on a Thursday from 3-30 until 6-00pm we play our Primary School league.
And then on a Friday from 3-30 until 10-30pm we play our Secondary School league
And we finish the year with another six week “Summer Series” competition..
This is played from 1st week in Term 3 (middle week in October) through to the 1st, 2nd or 3rd week in December.
