In light of the recent Manawatū Standard article, we believe it is important to provide clarity around the information shared.
As we navigate a challenging economic climate, we acknowledge the financial pressures affecting not only our organisation but many others community-based organisations. Rising operational costs and changes to funding criteria, like in any organisation, have had a significant impact. However, we remain confident in our ability to overcome these challenges as we continue strengthening our foundations and building financial sustainability through alternative solutions around how we attract and generate funding.
Unfortunately, to ensure long-term viability, we must reassess certain expenses, seek additional support from our association, and review our largest non-wage cost—venue hire. We are committed to exploring innovative solutions and alternative resources to sustain our organisation for the benefit of the community.
While we have a robust plan in place to move forward, external factors such as venue costs and funding constraints remain beyond our control. Our goal has always been to provide a valuable resource to the community, supporting families who rely on our services despite financial hardships and limited external funding.
Board Chairman Jason Pearn reaffirms our commitment to a strong strategic plan, actively exploring alternative revenue streams beyond our traditional funding sources to secure the long-term stability of the organisation.
We are disappointed with the recent press coverage, as it does not fully capture our commitment as a not-for-profit organisation to managing rising operational costs while keeping fees affordable for families.
At the same time, our board remains dedicated to collaborating with the regions Men’s Sals NBL Team, The Property Broker Jets. As a professional entity, their operations do not place any financial burden on our organisation; rather, this partnership is built on mutual respect and shared goals for the sport’s growth.
We sincerely appreciate the ongoing support from our community and stakeholders as we navigate these challenges. As we head into our winter league, we remain confident in our ability to overcome them and continue serving our community.
