Covid 19 Update from Basketball Manawatu

As you will know from the Governments update, all of New Zealand is at the Red setting and will remain at this setting until further notice.

The management staff of Basketball Manawatu, Sport Manawatu and PNCC (as venue owners) are all working hard on how we can make things happen under the guidelines and variety of interpretations .

Arrangements and procedures have been designed to create a positive environment in which people can be successful in their enjoyment of the game of basketball.

While we respect the rights of individuals to make choices, we are committed to providing a safe place for all people to play.

For Basketball Manawatū to do what we do best, we need to be open and operating safely, and vaccinations are the key factor for us being able to do so.

All attendees MUST be double vaccinated and produce a copy of a valid Vaccine Passport. This will be scanned in by BM staff and volunteers at the Entry Point to the venue.

The PNCC have mandated that the Arena is to be treated as ONE venue, so unlike last year when we were using both the Ball room and the B& M under the red Light setting we shall only be using the B & M’s four courts, with a possibility of using one of the Ballrooms. This is though dependent upon the number of players participating.

To ensure we stay under the 100 PAX limit we shall not be allowing spectators into the venue.

Remembering that under the Sport NZ’s interpretation Staff, Scorebench personnel, referees and event volunteers are not included in the 100 max limits!!!

In recent discussions with Glory League, our game videographic company, we shall be trialing live streaming up to 5 games at a time; so we could potentially have all games live streamed so your friends and family can watch your amazing plays from the comfort of the couch. More information will be shared with teams in the coming days/week..

We will be in touch again as soon as we know more, and especially following any further announcements from Sports NZ, BBNZ or the Government

Stay safe and be kind to one another team!
